갱 때문에 병원에 가지 못하고 있습니다.

Unable to Go to the Hospital Due to Gangs

아이티 일라봐(Lilavois) 지역에 있는 살렘, 빠비앙, 러브, CFC 고아원은 완전히 갇혀 있는 형편입니다. 지난달 중순부터 이십 일이 넘도록 3, 4개의 갱단이 주도권 다툼으로 매일 총격전을 벌이고 있습니다.

지난달에 병원에 가서 진료를 받고 있던 살렘고아원 쟌 목사는 진료를 더 받아야 하는데, 병원에 갈 수 없어 지난달 처방받은 약만 먹고 있습니다. 살렘과 빠비앙 고아원에 아픈 아이들이 일곱 명이나 있는데 밖에 나갈 수가 없어 병원에 못 가고 있습니다. 어른들만 총소리가 들리지 않을 때 길에 나가보곤 하고 있습니다. 8월 식량을 가져가야 하는데 눈치를 보고 있는 형편입니다.

아이티에서는 지난 7월에 유니세프 직원들이 납치되었다가 3주 만에 풀려나고, 지난 8월 3일 수도 포토프린스 남쪽에 있는 켄스코프 지역의 아일랜드계 고아원에서 원장 선교사와 어린 아기를 포함해서 9명을 갱단이 침입해 납치해가는 일도 발생했습니다.

우리는 고아원 침입 납치를 심각한 상황으로 보고 있습니다.

갱단 간 전투가 잦아들어서 사람들이 왕래라도 할 수 있도록 기도를 부탁드립니다. 고아원을 안전하게 지켜주시도록, 특별히 아픈 쟌 목사와 아이들이 병원에 갈 수 있도록 기도를 부탁드립니다.

The Salem, Fabien, Love, and CFC orphanages in the Lilavois area of Haiti are currently completely trapped. For over twenty days since the middle of last month, three to four gangs have been engaged in daily gunfights, vying for control.

Pastor Jean from the Salem Orphanage was receiving medical treatment at a hospital last month, but he still needs further care. However, he is now unable to return to the hospital and is relying solely on the medication prescribed last month. There are seven sick children in the Salem and Fabien orphanages who also need medical attention, but they cannot leave due to the danger outside. Only the adults occasionally check the streets when the gunfire momentarily stops. We need to deliver food for August, but we’re forced to wait and watch for a safer moment.

 In July, several UNICEF staff members were kidnapped in Haiti and released three weeks later. On August 3, a gang broke into an Irish-run orphanage in the Kenscoff area, just south of the capital, Port-au-Prince, and kidnapped nine people, including the director and a baby.

     We see these orphanage intrusions and kidnappings as a very serious threat.

 Please pray that the fighting between gangs will subside enough for people to move about safely. We especially ask for your prayers that the orphanages will be protected and that Pastor Jean and the sick children will be able to receive the medical care they need.
