<Haiti> 아이티에 잘 도착했습니다 / We arrived safely in Haiti

저희는 어제(7월 4일) 아이티에 잘 도착했습니다. 마이애미에서 아침 7시 30분 비행기를 타고, 아이티 북부 캡헤이션에 아침 9시 30분에 도착했습니다. 공항에서 수도 포토프린스행 비행기를 기다리면서, 우리가 후원하는 브니엘 고아원 출신 대학생 3명을 만나 이야기를 나누고 격려했습니다.

오후 2시 50분 수도 포토프린스로 가는 국내선 비행기를 탔습니다. 10개월만에 공항 근처의 소나피 공단에 있는 센터에 도착했습니다. 캡헤이션은 조용한데, 포토프린스는 거리에 긴장감이 역력했습니다. 갱단 점령지가 아닌 일부 지역만 사람들이 몰리면서 소나피 공단 앞은 복잡한 시장이 되어 있었습니다.

오늘(7월 5일, 토요일)은 오전에 하우스 오브 홉에서 다녀갔습니다. 여전히 아이들은 델마 75가에 머물고, 따바 건물은 이제 낮에 사용할 수 있는데, 최근 몇 주간 매일 밤낮으로 총소리가 가까이 들려서 모두 두려워 하고 있답니다.

간호대학에 다니는 우리 딸 위슬린은 멋을 부리고 왔고, 우리가 금년에 대학에 보내려고 하는 카치아나는 다음주에 국가시험이 있다고 했습니다. 아이들은 모두 잘 있지만, 좁은 집에서 스물여섯명의 인원이 지내며, 매일 총소리에 신경을 쓰다보니 모두 말이 자꾸 없어진다며 디렉터 에도아르가 걱정을 했습니다.

식량을 실어보내면서, 함께 기도하자고 했습니다. 어렵고 힘들지만, 아이들은 두려움을 이기며 지내고 있습니다.

내일은 아이티연합교회에서 말씀을 전하고, 오후에는 베다니마을과 영생교회 성도 45가정에게 구호 식량과 지원금을 전달합니다.

하나님께서 우리의 방문을 통해 아이들에게 소망을 잃지 않게 하시고, 서로 위로하며 격려하는 시간 가운데 힘을 얻게 하시길 기도하고 있습니다.

We arrived safely in Haiti yesterday (July 4th). We took a 7:30 AM flight from Miami, arriving in Cap-Haïtien, northern Haiti, at 9:30 AM. While waiting at the airport, we met, and encouraged three university students from the Peniel Orphanage, whom we sponsor.

     At 2:50 PM, we took a domestic flight to the capital, Port-au-Prince. After 10 months, we arrived at the center in the SONAPI industrial park near the airport. Cap-Haïtien was quiet, but there was palpable tension on the streets of Port-au-Prince. The area in front of the SONAPI industrial park was a bustling market, as people flocked to the few areas not occupied by gangs.

     Today (Saturday, July 5th), Edouar, the director of House of Hope, and the children visited us this morning. The children are still staying on Delmas 75th Street, and while the Tabarre building can now be used during the day, everyone is terrified because gunshots have been heard close by, day and night, for the past few weeks.

     Our daughter Wisline, who is studying nursing, came dressed up nicely, and Katiana, whom we plan to send to university this year, mentioned she has her national exam next week. All the children are doing well, but Director Edouar expressed concern that with twenty-six people living in a small house and constantly worrying about gunshots, everyone is becoming quieter.

     As we sent food, we prayed together. Although it's difficult and challenging, the children are overcoming their fear.

     Tomorrow, I will be preaching at the Haiti United Church, and in the afternoon, we will be delivering relief food and support funds to 45 families of believers at Bethany Village and Youngsaeng Church.

We are praying that God will use our visit to help the children not lose hope and to gain strength through this time of mutual comfort and encouragement.
