<Haiti> 아이티에 갑니다. We are going to Haiti on July 4th.

저희는 7월 3일 마이애미로 가서, 7월 4일 아이티 항공(Sunrise)편으로 아이티에 들어갑니다. 마이애미에서 아이티 북부 도시 캡헤이션으로 가서, 거기서 국내선 비행기를 타고 수도 포토프린스까지 갑니다. 이직도 아이티 수도에 미국 항공기 운항이 금지된 상태입니다. 우리는 10개월 만에 아이들과 원장들을 만나러 북부도시를 경유하여 갑니다.

갱들이 계속 세력을 확장하고, 지난주에도 중부지역 도시들이 갱의 공격을 받아 8천 명이 넘는 사람들이 집을 잃었습니다. 경찰서, 학교, 병원 등이 불에 타고, 모든 이들이 두려움 가운데 있습니다.

수도 인근에서도 매일 총소리가 끊이지 않고 있습니다. 고아원마다 어려운 환경 가운데 아이들이 살고 있습니다. 

약간 위험할 수도 있을 것이고, 위험하다고 만류하는 분들도 있지만, 아이티 국내선 비행기가 정기적으로 다니기 시작해서 다녀오려 합니다. 현지에 선교사님도 계시고, 저희가 가서 두려움에 가운데 지내는 아이들에게 큰 힘과 격려가 될 수 있다면 가는 것이 마땅하다는 판단에 위험을 무릅쓰고 다녀오기로 했습니다.

그동안 식량 공급과 고아원 지원은 현지에 계신 탁 선교사님을 통해 계속 이루어졌지만, 현지 실태를 좀 더 자세히 알고, 아이들이 처한 위험도 파악하고, 교육 문제도 상의하려고 합니다. 함께 기도하고 서로 위로하며 격려하려고 합니다.

가는 길에 학비를 지원하는 대학생 3명을 캡헤이션 공항에서 만나게 되길 기대하고 있습니다.

현재 저희는 7월분 식량 일부만 구매하였고, 지원금은 전혀 마련되지 않은 상태입니다. 하나님께서 채우시고 공급하시길 기도하고 있습니다.

Half a million Haitians now face deportation50만명의 아이티인 추방 직면

We will be flying to Miami on July 3, and on July 4, we will enter Haiti via Sunrise Airways. From Miami, we’ll travel to Cap-Haïtien, a northern city in Haiti, and from there, take a domestic flight to the capital, Port-au-Prince. U.S. flights are still not permitted to enter the capital, so we are taking the northern route to visit the children and the orphanage directors for the first time in 10 months.

     Gang violence continues to spread. Just last week, cities in the central region were attacked, leaving over 8,000 people displaced. Police stations, schools, and hospitals have been set on fire, and fear grips everyone.

     Even near the capital, the sound of gunfire can be heard daily. The children in the orphanages continue to live in tough conditions. There may be some risk involved, and some have advised us not to go. However, domestic flights within Haiti have recently resumed regular service, so we have decided to make the trip. There is also a missionary currently serving on the ground, and after much prayer and consideration, we felt that if our visit can be a source of strength and encouragement to the children living in fear, then it is right for us to go — even if it means taking some risks.

     Food supplies and orphanage support have been continuously provided through Missionary Tak on-site. However, we also want to understand the local situation in more detail, assess the dangers the children face, and discuss educational issues. We plan to pray together, comfort each other, and offer encouragement.

     We look forward to meeting three college students we support with tuition at the Cap-Haïtien airport along the way.

     As of now, we’ve only been able to purchase part of the food needed for July, and no additional funding has been secured yet. We are praying for God’s provision.
